Events 23rd Aug 2024

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Triumph Rocket 3, Triumph will be hosting a special event for current and aspiring Rocket owners to legally ride their bike down an airstrip at Elvington Airfield.

Jovially titled ‘Rocket Launch’, riders who attend will be given the opportunity to run their Rocket, road legal or otherwise, flat out on a disused two-mile long airfield.

All riders will receive a commemorative printout of the registered speed at ½ mile and one-mile intervals, along with an event sticker and photographs to record the day.

Triumph will provide few Rocket 3 Storm models to give owners of the older Rocket models a chance to try the latest iteration.

The event is in celebration of 20 years since the original Rocket III roared onto the shores of the UK in 2004 becoming an instant icon.

Famously the world’s largest production motorcycle, providing more muscle, presence, torque and bragging rights. It quickly became one of the most popular muscle cruisers on the market.

The original included a purpose-designed 2,294cc three-cylinder engine, weighing 320kg and featuring 147ld.ft of torque at 2500rpm. The three-cylinder look became a signature design for the Rocket III series.

Since its inception, the Rocket III range has evolved to its current line-up of the Rocket 3 R & GT variants with new features, improved comfort and technology, all without compromising on the iconic design.

The ‘Rocket Launch’ is held in conjunction with Straightliners, the drag racing event experts.
